As part of my work I do many live demonstrations. These are done in schools, colleges, art societies and at fundraising events (where the resulting painting is auctioned live for charity on completion). It has been wonderful doing these demonstrations in front of thousands of people over the years, inspiring young people and engaging people with the process of painting.
Thames Estuary
This was a recent school demonstration at a school near the Thames Estuary, so I was able to incorporate some local history - the historic coal barges - into the painting. The whole painting took just two hours. As usual, I answered questions throughout and the school got to keep the painting.
This video gives a little introduction to my school demonstrations. If you are school and would like me to come in please get in touch and I can send you the terms. I love doing these events more than anything, they are my favourite part of my job! I always get asked questions I’ve never heard before and each painting presents a new challenge. And it is great, great fun!
TEDx talk
In 2019 I was asked to give a TEDx talk to describe the impact my work has had on the community. During the 18 minute talk I paint a 120cm x 90cm painting which I subsequently auctioned for a local Creative Therapy and Counselling Service raising £500.
